Tuition Waiver to the University of Illinois

Mt. Sterling, IL…It is time for those applying for the Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver who attend the University of Illinois to be selected again.  Every county in the State gets 6 tuition waivers, one for each of the following: World War II, Korean conflict, Vietnam conflict, the Southwest Asia conflict (First Persian Gulf War), Operation Enduring freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi freedom.      

The Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver is a 4 year (consecutive) tuition waiver at the University of Illinois.  If you are awarded the waiver, it will cover your in-state tuition (for undergraduate, graduate, or professional studies) at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, Health Sciences Center, Springfield or Global Campus).  The deadline to apply is March 1, 2009.

“I wanted to try and let everybody know about this opportunity for the children of veterans,” said Rep. Jil Tracy.  “It is sometimes difficult for people to find out about all of the scholarships that are available and I think it would be a shame if these were not used.”

The office of Student Financial aid at the University of Illinois is responsible for handing out these scholarships.  However, you can obtain applications from Rep. Tracy’s district office located at 3701 East Lake Centre Dr, Suite 3, Quincy, Illinois 62305 or request an application by phone at (217) 223-0833 or by emailing Jil at jiltracy@jiltracy.com.  The application can also be downloaded at www.jiltracy.com.  The deadline to submit applications is March 1, 2009.  When calling please indicate that you are requesting “The Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver.”
