Apply for General Assembly Scholarships

Mt. Sterling, IL…It is that time of year again for current or college bound students residing in the 93rd legislative district who are interested in applying for an Illinois General Assembly Scholarship, good for one year of free tuition at the following University’s to do so.  The University’s that this covers include University of Illinois in Champaign –Urbana, Chicago or Springfield or Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governor’s State University, Illinois State University, Northern Illinois University, Northeastern University, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale or Edwardsville and Western Illinois University. 

“Each year I have the privilege of awarding eight well deserving residents a one year scholarship to the Illinois public university of their choice,” said Representative Tracy.  “It is a great opportunity for students of any age to apply and possibly receive this financial help when attending one of Illinois’ great higher education institutions.”

Rep. Tracy and a separate committee review the applications and select the eight most deserving recipients.  In order to be eligible for a G.A. Scholarship one must reside in the 93rd district, which consists of all or part of Adams, Brown, Cass, Pike, Schuyler, Scott and Hancock counties.  The qualification criteria takes into account academic achievement, community or civic involvement and financial need.

“Due to the increasing costs of attending higher education facilities these scholarships are a great way to provide opportunities for students who might otherwise not be able to afford this valuable experience,” said Tracy.
